In 1996 with Over the Edge up and running and Fruita Trails getting more and more notice. The locals had an epic trail project in the works. Troy's father Loren is a pilot and starting with a recon flight a huge loop off 18 road was planned to circle the entire area. Months of volunteer hours were put into this effort and by the first festival in April 1996; the 30 mile loop was ready. Niel Gillman said; "you're always riding on the edge", we needed no more cause to call it "The Edge Loop"...

Rolling along Singletrack Trails on my mountain bike with rocks all around; I'm scanning here and there for that little special line that goes up and over instead of around or thorough. Maybe it’s a rock you can run up on and jump back into the trail or maybe it’s a rock...

It rained here all night, darn near, and was still dripping into the AM hours. Made for some sad folks as their ride trips were called short or at least interupted. As I write that it makes me a bit sad to know that some packed up and left even though now its sunny and the most awesome day outside....
